Aberaeron

Aberaeron is located on the west coast of Wales – 16 miles south of Aberystwyth. The Harbourmaster is in the centre of the town on the corner of the harbour and the sea. On arriving in Aberaeron, follow the signs for the Tourist Information Centre. We are next door. You can park in the hotel car park to the rear, or on the harbourside if the car park is full. You can enter the hotel through the car park entrance – just press the intercom near the glass door.

By Road

We're on the A487 coast road. Easily found if you are heading south from Aberystwyth. Coming from Lampeter follow the signs for Aberaeron.

Although Aberaeron is easily found on the map, if you need the best route from South Wales you will need to follow our directions, as Aberaeron is not signposted at all! Here we go.... Directions from the M4 from South Wales. Head on the M4 West and then the A48 towards Carmarthen. On reaching Carmarthen (45mins to Aberaeron)follow the sign for A40 Llandeilo at the first two roundabouts. At the third roundabout take the A485 Lampeter road. Continue through Peniel, Rhydargaeau, and Alltwalis and take care to keep within the 40 speed limit (v. strict in W Wales!). After leaving Alltwalis when you pass the Texaco garage on the right, take the FIRST LEFT towards Pencader on the B4459. Continue for a few miles until you see another LEFT for the B4336 to Llandysul. Take this road. On reaching Pontyweli (20 minutes to Aberaeron), at the junction turn RIGHT following signs to New Quay (A486). Go through Llandysul and continue to follow the New Quay signs, passing the villages of Croeslan, Bwlchgroes, Ffostrasol and Capel Cynon. On reaching the next junction at SYNOD INN, you have finally reached the coastal A487 road. Turn RIGHT and head north following the directions for Aberystwyth. Aberaeron is 6 miles north of Synod Inn.

By Rail

The closest railway station is in Aberystwyth 16 miles away – good services from Birmingham, and also a few direct trains a day from London Euston. Call 08457 484950 for details.

By Bus

Good service with Traws Cambria from Bangor in North Wales and from Cardiff – the service stops Aberaeron town centre – 3 minute walk to the hotel. Also well served locally from Aberystwyth bus every 30mins. For details of all bus routes look at Traveline Cymru or phone 0870 608 2608.

By Air

The closest airport is Cardiff Wales International – 2 hours drive away. No public transport from the Airport to the west. The best option is to hire a car.
